Finishing up a painting of a tree that spans dimensions for Jess's dad. Fiished painting one whole side of the van. Now to get pictures if I can just find that darn camera. Carys stopped by and told me I should sell her my tree painting to her for real money. I am not convinced she will actually come up with the money. She is young and forgets bills and debts and such. So my daughter is going to BC for romantic reasons. I will miss her while she is gone and hope she contacts me frequently if only to ask for money. I start teaching at CMAC tomorrow, another group of bright eyed makeup students asking me a million questions... when do we put makeup through our airbrushes. Anyone who has ever used an airbrush to decorate the human body knows, we use paint! Getting anxious to begin Capital X and make the big money. Hoping this year will make up for the 3 tough years I have had.

July 4,2010 - 2 years with Jessie. Went and saw the WORKS (a visual arts celebration) . Bought her an R2D2 backpack, she was overwhelmed, such a geekgasm. At work I am trying to figure out the Navier-Stokes fluid modelling equations, what a headache. Though it seems to me that the language and cryptic symbology of mathmatics has a way of making it seem more imposing than it is. Sometimes it is just add this number to that number and multiply by that number only over a big array of variables. They put sigma notation and lots of greek and brackets... unnecessary obfuscation I say. Here is my latest little project - snapshot: gooify the image from your camera by clicking and dragging on the area.. then make a snapshot by clicking the green button or click the blue button to make all the stuff on top go away. The current displacement transform image is in the upper right. You can also use the slider to control time lapse photography from your webcam! The red button resets everything. Simple in appearance, complex in execution. The gooify is done with a displacement map filter and one level of blurring to make it smooth. Then I have to copy the video into a frame buffer then transform and copy into the background image. if you like what you have done, you will have to use the printscreen button on your computer to capture it, as I do not have any PHP scripting available on this server to save the images.
June 12, 2010 - (picture of my daughter dancing with her friend at a greenfest) My wife is soooo beautiful. Today we worked on the yard in preparation for an early birthday party for andrew. The neighbour showed up and mowed our lawn with an environmentally unfriendly lawnmower bless his heart. Last night we went to the most amazing party, it was my niece Nikki's 16th birtday. The chosen venue was the amazing Rolini bakery and all the food was Philipino and most amazing, then the dancing!!
May 26,2010 - Found the most fascinating website called modern life. Got my mind working on several levels. He has a flash piece that makes a tree of his face. I managed to do it in 15 lines of actionscript code! I think the disturbing image of my face repeated, but in the pleasing form of a tree fractal is interesting and repellent at the same time. I have made some breakthroughs in blender and the van is Running! Now to convince my lovely wife that it is roadworthy and will make it up to Athabasca or down to Calgary. It seems to me that blogs are something you write to remind yourself of where you are and how far you have come. So much has changed this year as I have become more and more confident of my abilities as a multimedia artist. I guess if I were to ask myself of 30 years ago... what will you be doing in 30 years, I would say, being an architect on the moon. I have moved my whole studio downstairs. Less noise, more dangerous.

VW MENU

May 21,2010 - So I finally finished my new vw van menu system.. in flash. It reads a config file, then puts tags for each webpage that are animated and the van rolls around till it is level with the tag. All I have to do is change the config file and the menus change. I know, it looks easy, but all that is the file present, if not use the internal variables business was murder. Meanwhile at work I am making red blood cells and Jessie is learning to love cooking! Joy is me. She made a wonderful berry crisp last night that sent me to nirvana.

Mothra

May 15th 2010- Just for fun I made a flash movie about the evolution of mothra into a menace the world is not ready for. LOL. If you have every watched and enjoyed MST3K as much as me you will get a kick out of this.

the Third place award for ice carving at the 2010 Deep Freeze on 118th went to Robert for this tinkerbell with a castle in ice. Can you see the fairy? can you see the castle. It is very difficult to see in the photo, but it looked great in real life and the wings made it 1 day at least before being knocked off by a stray kid.

Dec 5th 2009 - The website has a whole new look to it .

vw van at capital ex edmonton

Capital Ex 2008 award "most beautiful booth" in the eco zone

Drawing caricatures.

With a new paint job, solar cells and a great stereo, the van hit the capital X in Edmonton for the 2008 crowds to admire. I do think I saw a few misty eyes filled with memories. We were set up in the Eco-zone and ended up winning the Most Beautiful Booth award for our efforts. (it's huge and made of lucite!) The flower pails were a nice addition, but the tarps still wanted to blow away. Despite that the rain gear held up and the thunderstorms were amazing. The clutch is still acting up and the engine wants to stall all the time, but what the heck, it's a classic! My lovely wife jessie took many a nap while the sun was high and the days were long but lots of fun with the kids ! See more caricatures click here

married

Robert marries Jessie

Yes, it happened on a lovely day, July 4th 2008. Robert William Woodbury Married Jessica Beth Robbins. The service was held at St Andrews United Church in Edmonton. The after party was Hawaiian style with a Tiki Bar and a volcano too. A little wind and rain interrupted the proceedings and the terrific food from Trevor and Amber was amazing. Andrew and Carys became brother and sister that day and have been inseparable since. Jessie is a model, writer, nanny and homemaker and keeps robert organized. Thank God for her, I have been truly blessed with the most wonderful wife and friend.

Airbrushing a complete motorcycle May 25 2008 1st place custom award!

Radical mediaeval airbrushing on this custom bike helped it take first place in the custom category at the first annual Edmonton North Side Harley Davidson show May 25, 2008. We had a crowd around the bike almost the whole day. Click for more pictures!

face-cutout-board
Face cutout for fun pictures.

Cutout makes big splash at Edmonton's Bridal fair

Kathy Visser photography of Grande Cache commissioned this cutout to amuse their visitors and drum up more business. I hear it worked better than jumping in a lake.
